Spring Cleaning

02
Sep

Spring has sprung at Stevens and we want to help you refresh your space for the season. Spring is a great time to give your home a good clean, particularly if you've spent lots of time indoors during the cold, winter months. The sunny, longer days create the perfect opportunity for you to clean parts of your home you've been putting off since last year and makes the drying time faster.

Kitchen Cleaning Tips

The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in the house. Think about all the meals you make there, the grease hitting the backsplash, weird stains on the cupboards, pets and children constantly coming in and out. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home but it's important to give it a good spring clean to ensure it's ready for the summer and Christmas entertaining to come.

  • Wipe benches, cupboards and, splashbacks with Good Change Kitchen Cleaner. This fresh, citrus scent will leave your kitchen smelling clean and looking clean. Simply spray onto the surface and wipe away with a warm, damp cloth for easy cleaning.
  • Clean the oven by removing trays and liners. Pay special attention to the bottom of the oven as this is where most food spills will be cooked on. Give the glass door a clean with Good Change Glass Cleaner inside and out for a shiny oven door. Don't forget to wipe the outside of the oven in between buttons and handles.
  • Give your cooktop surface a good clean with Bar Keeper's Friend. Simply scrub a bit of product onto the cooktop surface and wipe away with a warm, damp cloth. Don't forget to take off knobs and clean under them as grease and food can be stuck here too.

Bathroom Cleaning Tips

The bathroom is a hotspot in the home. It's important to clean the bathroom every week but a big spring clean is good for the soul.

  • Wipe the ceiling and walls with Good Change Bathroom Cleaner and a warm, damp cloth to remove excess mould and mildew.
  • Give your shower, bath, toilet and, sinks a good scrub, making sure not to miss any hard to reach spots.
  • Wipe any mirrors with the Good Change Glass Cleaner to remove marks and make them shine.
  • Consider tidying/organising draws and shelves in the bathroom. Now is a great time to throw out products that are old, expired or you're not using anymore.
  • Get a toilet paper holder so you don't have to keep replacing the roll on the holder one by one.
  • Get a few laundry baskets for the bathroom. This will make it easier to carry to the laundry room and will minimise dirty clothes lying askew in the bathroom.
  • Refresh your towels! Ideally you should be washing your towels every few days, if not a new towel per shower. Give them a nice hot wash to remove any stains and germs and dry them in the sun on the washing line.

Bedroom Cleaning Tips

You spend a third of your life in bed so a spring clean is essential! Nothing feels better than hopping into a nice, clean bed at night.

  • Start by removing all your sheets, duvets and pillowcases. A warm, sunny day is the best day to give these a hot wash and let them dry on the washing line.
  • Consider giving your mattress a vacuum to remove any dust or allergens that are trapped.
  • Wipe windows and windowsills free of mould and mildew from winter.
  • Wipe any walls, shelves and side tables to remove dust. A dust-free room will help you sleep better, particularly if you're prone to allergies.
  • Sort out your wardrobe. It's easy to hoard clothes and personal items in your wardrobe so now is the time to give it a spring clean. Donate any clothes you're no longer wearing and organise your wardrobe with handy shelf storage bins, coat hangers and, shoe racks.
  • Give the floor a good vacuum. Lift any rugs and furniture to ensure you don't miss any hard to reach spots.
  • Put your pillows outside in the sun to air and kill germs.

General Home Cleaning

  • Clean windows inside and out. With the warm weather, it's a great time to power wash the windows outside and spray and wipe inside. This removes any mould, mildew and dampness that might have built up during winter.
  • Carpet clean. Ever wondered how dirty your carpets actually are? You may be vacuuming them every week but when was the last time you had a carpet clean? Carpet cleans are great at removing trapped dirt and stains that can't be removed with a regular vacuum. You can rent a machine from supermarkets or your local hardware store.
  • Wipe any walls throughout your home that have stains or marks with the Good Change All Purpose Cleaner. It's amazing how dirty your walls can get.
  • Wash your floors. Give your tiles and hardwood floors a good clean. Vacuuming can only remove so much and as it's the busiest surface in the home, there could be dirt, mud and stains stuck on the floor.
