Create a decadent cheeseboard

Nothing says 'I love you Mum' like creating a decadent cheeseboard for her to enjoy. Cheeseboards are the definition of 'looks fancy but are easy to put together'. The best thing is you can completely customise what goes on it! Don't like a certain fruit or nut? Easily swap it for something else. The possibilities are endless so get creating. Learn how we made our gorgeous cheeseboard below.

Ingredients

  • 1 pear, packam or bosc, cored and thinly sliced lengthwise
  • Big bunch of green and red grapes
  • 1 x punnet of blueberries
  • 1 punnet of strawberries
  • 200g pistachios in the shell
  • 2 x fresh figs or 100g dried figs, quartered
  • 100g Clover comb honey
  • 70g Italian Proscuitto
  • 1 x Brie cheese roundel
  • 1 x Cheddar cheese block
  • 3 x types of crackers - wholegrain, wafer, seeded
  • Fresh herbs or flowers to garnish. E.g. rosemary, violas, calendula

Method

1. Place the strawberries, blueberries and clover honey comb into three separate little condiment bowls.

2. Slice the pear and the figs. Set aside to add to the cheeseboard later.

3. Choose a cheeseboard or serving platter.

4. Start by arranging the cheeses on the board first. This will create a solid base for you to add the other components around. For the brie cheese, slice a few slices next to the roundel so guests can pull them out easily. For the cheddar cheese, we've 'crumbled' chunks of it onto the cheeseboard for a textured look. You can do this or simply slice cheese similar to what you did for the brie cheese.

5. Next add the three condiment bowls with the fruit and honey from step 1.

6. Next start adding different components and building around the cheeses. Add the proscuitto, crackers, sliced pears and figs, and grapes.

7. Add cheese knives and enjoy!

Notes:

  • For the method above, it may be helpful to refer to the image to get an idea of where everything sits on the cheeseboard.
  • Feel free to swap the fruit, crackers and cheese for your favourites. It is your cheeseboard after all!
  • If serving your cheeseboard straight away, ensure you let the cheeses soften at room temperature for at least 15 minutes prior.
